One of my favourite restaurants! Menu is thoroughly amusing and the prices are quite reasonable.
Great spot for asian fusion foods with a twist. This bar diner is great for after work hangouts.
Server was great! Attentive but not annoying about it. Fried chicken was on point! Good amount of heat so beware ylif you ain't into spicy food
their signature fried chicken is so tasty
Open concept kitchen cranking out some of the best chicken in the hood. Tofu had some good spice to it. Went well with a cold Kirin. Staff were professional and tentative. Nice music, great food and booze, we were all very happy with the experience.
fried chicken was below average; very small amount, cold, and not crispy. also, fried tofu was very watery... wouldn’t recommend. good service tho
Nice place for fried chicken. A little pricey IMO. Would like if there was a non fried option like a cold cucumber dish . I used to go here a lot , then stopped. Went back recently, probably won’t be back.
Good restaurant! Food is tasty and delicious. Staff are so nice and friendly. Quick service! Small and warm space. I like their "open" restaurant. We can see what they are doing with foods.
Stopped by kanpai last night by accident and my husband and i loved it! We got a selection of dishes and we loved the fried chicken. The fried rice stole the show. We both enjoyed our cocktails and the server was attentive, warm and seemed at ease when dealing with a full restaurant by herself! Great place
Great atmosphere. Great staff and people. The food is unique and delicious. I had the fried chicken and the wu-tang beef and cabbage patch spouts all where very good. I especially liked the fried chicken that was fried to perfection with a peanut flavored batter - it was truly out of this world!
The atmosohere was good. They had a good selection of music, the waitress was friendly, and the place was full. We had their famous Taiwanese chicken which was mediocre... the skin on one was flavorful and bland on a another. The meat inside was bland in both pieces that I had. We had ordered some other dishes as well and they were all mediocre...
The place is cozy and service is very good! The portion is smaller than our expectation though. Oh I like people's uniforms lol
Honestly, I really wanted to like this place. My boyfriend and I came here on a Monday evening and wasn’t busy. We ordered the Taiwanese popcorn chicken, pork belly bao and this pork belly rice plate. The popcorn chicken was extremely small and the peices were tiny. There was like 2/3 cup of chicken on that plate, which tasted fine I guess but for $11? You could get 5 pieces of nice Japanese chicken for that pice at Gushi. The pork belly baos were only ok too ($6.5 each) but my piece was like 60% fat and it wasn’t as tender as other baos in Toronto. The rice plate was odd and was only ok too. The amount of pickled veggies was a turn off as well as the mushy rice.We were about to order more food because we were so unsatisfied. But we made the right choice to try somewhere else. Really cute place though, I don’t know maybe they were having a bad night?
Good to try this place at least once. I had a really interesting dessert here that was unique, very interesting flavours going on.
Delicious Taiwanese inspired food. Fried chicken is out of this world. A usual joint I frequent.
Great tapas! The dishes are all very flavourful and unique. The fried chicken is absolutely delicious. They have drink deals which is nice because the food can get a little pricey since the plates are somewhat on the smaller side and you'll probably want to get 2 - 4 per person. Great spot!
It was OK because the servers were not knowledge and they were a little forgetful... Food was not bad but temperature was not warm enough... And $7 for dim sum shrimp dumpling is a little high
The fried chicken is one of the best fried chicken I had. Crunchy, juicy and not too oily. The rest of the items were a hit and miss but overall the ambience and the food was good. Its not too cheap either if you are hungry and ordering a lot of other dishes 😊Recommendation: must try it for sure!!
I love Kanpai! Great service, and food is delicious. Lots of beverage options as well.
Interesting food selection. They didn't have a few of the items we had ordered though which was too bad. Get a bunch of dishes to share. The Bao are really good, so is the fried chicken but it's about a 30 minute wait as they make it to order. They play 90s rap which is awesome
We ordered a beef snack but we never got it. Other than that, foid was above average. Chicken is a must try and the bao as well.
Food came fast but after that service was non existent. Descriptions on the menu made all the food sound interesting but when the it came it was basically typical Asian food and dim sum. Pricey if you're comparing it to Asian restaurants but on par for the Cabbagetown location.
This place is amazing. Garage doors are wide open, feel the breeze! Food was beyond amazing. Vibe is great. Trevor the server... nothing but amazing things to say, he definitely had all the best recommendations! We came in not knowing what we wanted to eat and shared one appetizer, we left after 3 appetizers and didn’t choose one of them. Trevor recommended all of them and we loved all of them. Needless to say, we’ll be back.
Nice spot for eats and drinks, lots to choose from!
Great food, hip atmosphere and fantastic music. Overall a good experience.
Loved it. 90s hip hop, delicious smaller plates, baos, snacks, good beer and cocktails, friendly chatty staff, nice atmosphere and a big, clean, open kitchen. Our group of 5 included a vegetarian and an 8yo kid, and they looked after all of us. Everyone found lots of stuff they loved on the menu, and my only regret is I filled up eventually and couldn't stay to try the whole menu.
Great food. Worth a stop. Beer list has options for everyone. And the cocktail list is great. The fried chicken and the bao are unreal. Want to go back already
I adore this place - came here twice, will come again. Best fried chicken, period
Love the atmosphere! Food is really good too, I liked the fried pork belly!
Honestly, it was kind of just fine. Fried chicken was juicy but doesn't have the flavour of some of the places for Taiwanese chicken on Yonge. Tofu was a bit bland. Cauliflower came in these enormous pieces that weren't particularly good for sharing. Service was pretty good and drinks were excellent.
Everyone knows they have the best fried chicken, but seriously, don't hesitate to be adventurous on their menu. Super fun delicious sharing plates are the way to go. Also, the double ounce Caesar with the fried chicken is one of the best you'll ever have. One of the best in TO.
Just average Taiwanese joint. Had Better uptown for a cheaper price. Would go back just cause they got good taste in music at the function. No cap.
Incredible food! The chicken is amazing. Also the fruit salad with basil was amazing. Really cool vibe here even at brunch time. Can’t wait to come back at night.
Very good and interesting brunch menu. Need to come back to try the fried chicken. Nice and bright in the restaurant and the garage doors open in the summer! Music ain't bad either
The food here is spectacular and unique. Four of us ordered a lot of dishes and they were all great. Service was an issue...incredibly slow and it was not busy....but I think it might have been a short-staffed by accident or circumstance situation.
I swear all their sauces taste like it's in house. SO good. And the bartender was so funny. Love love her personality.
